Hi, I’m Julie Sprankles (yes, like ‘sprinkles’ but with an ‘a’).
Since my childhood dreams of becoming Jane Goodall never came to pass, I carved out a life for myself in a jungle of another sort: the internet. In 2012, I left my high-pressure desk job as a magazine editor to become a freelance creative.
My work as an entertainment, lifestyle, and travel writer has appeared on top sites such as Yahoo, Apartment Therapy, HuffPost, MSN, Bustle, NatGeo Green Living, SheKnows, Teen Vogue and more. I’ve hammered out copy for a wide range of major brands as well, including Target, Levi’s, Land Rover, Keurig, Starkist, Nestea, Lowe’s, and CMT.
When I’m not slinging words, I’m fortunate enough to get the chance to chat with celebrities about everything from humanitarian work to their upcoming projects. Jodie Foster and I discussed her long-awaited return to acting with 2018’s Hotel Artemis. Jada Pinkett Smith empowered me to live my own truth. I picked Helen Mirren’s brain about finding roles that aren’t age-reductive, and I explored modern parenting with Sarah Jessica Parker. Josh Duhamel and I gushed about puppies, because how weird is my life?
(Scroll down to see which other stars I’ve chewed the fat with.)
But I’m a strong believer in balance — and that life should be lived. To that end, my husband and I recently sold our home in the storied coastal city of Charleston to buy an RV and roam the U.S. with the two incredibly cool little humans we created.
If I’m not writing or exploring, you can probably catch me binge-watching true crime series or, subsequently, trying to convince my husband that my obsession with Snapped is totally harmless.
Also known as how I afford my coffee habit.
If you think you might be interested in collaborating, I'd love to hear from you.
